Our Probate Service
An efficient, sensitive and speedy probate service at a competitive price.
Most people are not aware of all the legal and administrative work involved when someone dies. Bereaved people can add to their stress, and sometimes waste considerable sums of money, by trying to administer an estate without professional support.
The Carers Legal Centre can help you through this difficult time without costing a fortune. There is no need for you to live in our local neighbourhood.

What we do for you
The Carers Legal Centre will:
- Prepare an application to the Probate Registry to obtain the legal authority to sell or transfer the property that belonged to the person who died.
- Ensure that any necessary taxes are paid.
- Pay any debts and liabilities of the person who has died.
- Distribute the assets of the deceased to the people who are entitled to inherit.
Our Manner of Working
The mark of a good probate service is that it is sensitive to the emotional needs of the deceased as well as carrying out the required legal work. As part of our service we:
- Meet the bereaved early on to ensure that they are aware of what is involved in the probate process.
- At no extra charge permit unlimited contact with you and the beneficiaries by email or telephone so that queries are always readily answered.
- At the start of the process provide you and the beneficiaries with a clear estimate of the time-scale involved.
Our Fixed charges at 1%
People who have just been bereaved are vulnerable, and may agree to pay more for the services they need than if they had shopped around carefully. We will make sure you do not pay too much.- We provide an all inclusive Fixed fee service
- Agreed with you before the commencement of any work
- No on-going hourly charge
- No unexpected fees
- Our fees are1% of the value of the estate. (This is subject to a minimum fee of £500.) Banks typically charge some 4% of the value of an estate and solicitors have been found to charge around 2%. (Source, Which? and Money Mail June 2010)
- We require a small payment from you when we start work to cover ongoing expenses, but our fees will usually be paid from the estate of the deceased, so that you will not be presented with an unexpected bill at the end of the process.
